CNN said it was another record breaking heat wave as the Washington Elite ice skaters converged at the Rust Arena on the beautiful campus of the University of Delaware to test their skills in ice dancing, freestyle, and moves in the field. With tests covering almost all disciplines of figure skating Olympic coach Sergey Korovin and DC’s own Emme Porter and Bruce Porter Jr were met with high marks. Even Bella Porter was on hand with her usual charm and personality. 😉
Big congratulations to Briana O’Hanlon for passing her senior moves in the field, juv freestyle test, and silver tango ice dance test. Always a performer Briana landed her best jumps during the actual test session and passed the freestyle routine with top marks. Then she stole the day with an excellent performance during her senior moves in the field test. “Briana skated with poise and maturity as she executed each move with precision and confidence earning earning herself above passing marks and the coveted gold medal” says Emme Porter. Briana finished her day with by passing the silver tango ice dance.
Washington Elite ice skaters will be training this summer at Mount Vernon, VA Recreational Center, at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, and The Pond Ice Arena in Newark, DE. See you there!
